When to activate
- You run an independent podcast that you want to monetize via sponsors, products, courses, or a paid tier
- You have 1,500+ downloads per episode and sponsor outreach is happening ad-hoc instead of systematically

When NOT to use
- Your podcast is a hobby and adding monetization workflows kills the joy
- You have a podcast network or producer handling sponsor sales for you — they should own this
- You're under 500 downloads per episode — at that scale, monetization is premature; focus on audience growth first
Instructions
Step 1: Set up your show context
Say:
"My podcast is [title]. The format is [interview / solo / co-hosted / panel / narrative]. My audience persona is [persona]. My downloads-per-episode are [N]. My niche is [niche]. My brand voice is [warm-conversational / sharp-and-fast / curious-academic / no-fluff-direct]. My current monetization is [list — sponsors, paid tier, course, services, none]. My ideal monetization mix at scale is [target]."
Step 2: Episode-by-episode operational package
For each episode:
Say:
"Episode [N] dropped this week. Title: [title]. Guest: [name and role, if interview]. Topic: [topic]. Key takeaways: [3-5 bullets]. Most quotable moment: [quote]. Draft: (1) the episode description for podcast platforms (Apple, Spotify, Overcast), (2) show notes with timestamped key moments, (3) a guest thank-you email, (4) three social posts (one quote graphic, one teaser, one CTA), (5) a 1-paragraph entry for my newsletter mentioning this week's episode."
You get the full distribution package in 90 seconds. Edit, deploy. Total per-episode operational time: 15 minutes instead of 90.
Step 3: Sponsor outreach
Most podcasters wait for inbound sponsor inquiries. The shows that monetize well do active outbound — personalized pitches to companies whose products fit the audience.
Say:
"I want to pitch [company / product] as a potential sponsor. They make [product/service] for [persona]. My audience overlaps with their target because [reason]. Draft a personalized sponsor pitch email that: (1) opens with a specific reference to their product or a recent move they made, (2) introduces my show and the audience overlap, (3) proposes a specific package (mid-roll mention / dedicated episode / multi-episode series), (4) includes pricing, (5) ends with a clear call (15-min discovery call this week)."
The personalization is what makes the outbound work. Generic "I have a podcast and you have a product, want to sponsor?" gets ignored. Personalized "I noticed you just launched the new SDK and your existing customer base is exactly my listener demographic" gets a response.
Step 4: Sponsor ad copy
Once a sponsor signs, you need the ad copy.
Say:
"My new sponsor is [company / product]. They sell [thing] to [audience]. Their key benefits are [list]. Their ideal mention spot is [pre-roll / mid-roll / dedicated]. Draft: (1) a 60-second host-read mid-roll script in my conversational voice, (2) a 30-second pre-roll variant, (3) a longer 90-second dedicated read for a premium slot, (4) a bonus social post promoting the partnership."
Sponsors love host-read ads that sound like the host. Generic scripts read flat. Claude in your voice reads like your voice.
Step 5: Sponsor invoice follow-up
Sponsor AR is notoriously slow. Most podcasters wait too long to chase.
Say:
"Here are my outstanding sponsor invoices: [list with amount, days overdue, and most recent contact]. Draft escalating follow-up messages for each based on aging: 7-30 days (warm reminder), 31-60 days (direct with calendar invite for a call), 61+ days (formal with explicit next step)."
Step 6: Paid tier or premium feed launch
When you're ready to add a paid tier:
Say:
"I'm launching a paid tier called [name] at [$X/month]. The offer includes [list — bonus episodes, ad-free feed, community, early access, etc.]. My free audience is [N]. My target paid conversion rate is [Y%]. Draft: (1) the announcement email to my existing list, (2) the landing page copy, (3) a 5-episode mini-arc on the main feed teasing the paid tier, (4) the welcome sequence for new paid members."
Example
You run a B2B sales podcast. 4,200 downloads per episode. You ship weekly. You have one occasional sponsor at $400 per episode — about $20K annualized. You suspect the show could be doing 5x that.
You set up the sponsor outreach workflow. You identify 25 companies whose tools fit your audience — sales engagement platforms, CRMs, sales intelligence tools, training platforms.
For Outreach (the company), you ask Claude:
"I want to pitch Outreach as a sponsor. They make a sales engagement platform for B2B sales teams. My podcast audience is B2B sales reps and managers at companies with $20M-$500M revenue — a strong overlap with Outreach's mid-market segment. They recently launched their AI-assisted sequencing product. Draft a personalized pitch."
Claude produces a 280-word pitch that opens with "Saw the AI-assisted sequencing launch — listened to your VP of Product talk about it on a webinar last week and it lined up with a conversation I had on episode 142 with a CRO who'd been running manual sequence variations for six months." It introduces the show ("4,200 downloads per episode, 78% are B2B sales practitioners at the seniority of decision-influencers"), proposes a 6-episode mid-roll package at $600/episode plus one dedicated episode at $2,500, and asks for a 15-min call.
You edit lightly and send. Three of your 25 outbound pitches book sponsor calls. Two sign 6-episode packages. Annualized incremental sponsor revenue: roughly $50K.
Six months later, you've systematized this. You do 5-8 outbound pitches per month and close 1-2 per quarter. Your sponsor revenue stabilizes at $90-120K annualized — up from $20K.
You then launch a paid tier with bonus interviews and an ad-free feed at $9/month. 3.2% of your free listeners convert in the first 60 days — about 130 paid members. $14K of incremental annual recurring revenue.
Total podcast revenue moves from $20K to $130K+ in 18 months. The workflow shift was operational — the content quality didn't change. Only the operational systematization did.
