Tool Design Principles
A good MCP tool:
- Does ONE thing (not multiple tasks in one tool)
- Has a clear, precise description (Claude uses this to decide when to call it)
- Has a minimal, well-typed input schema
- Returns structured, parseable output (not free-form text)
- Handles errors gracefully — return error message, not exception
