Skill Manager
Manage all installed Codex skills: scan, subscribe, unsubscribe, and output a categorized markdown dictionary for offline browsing.
When to Use
Invoke when the user asks to:
- "sync skills" / "update skill dictionary"
- "show my skills" / "what skills do I have"
- "subscribe to X" / "unsubscribe X"
- "show new skills only"
- "regenerate skill dictionary"
Do not invoke automatically at session start unless the user asks.
Output Location
All output lands in ~/Desktop/codex_skill_dir/:
| File | Purpose |
|---|---|
skill-registry.json |
Persistent registry of all known skills with subscription status |
skills-dictionary.md |
Human-readable markdown dictionary, organized by category |
The dictionary separates subscribed (commonly used) skills at the top into categorized sections, and hides unsubscribed skills under a --- divider and a single "已隐藏 (Unsubscribed)" section at the bottom.
Workflow
1. Sync
python ~/.codex/skills/skill-manager/scripts/skill-manager.py sync
Scans all skill directories (user skills, `.system` skills, plugin skills, nested skills), compares against the registry, detects new skills, and regenerates `skills-dictionary.md`.
### 2. Subscribe / Unsubscribe
```bash
python ~/.codex/skills/skill-manager/scripts/skill-manager.py subscribe "<skill-name>"
python ~/.codex/skills/skill-manager/scripts/skill-manager.py unsubscribe "<skill-name>"
### 3. View (in terminal)
```bash
python ~/.codex/skills/skill-manager/scripts/skill-manager.py show
python ~/.codex/skills/skill-manager/scripts/skill-manager.py show new
python ~/.codex/skills/skill-manager/scripts/skill-manager.py show subscribed
### 4. Regenerate markdown only (no rescan)
```bash
python ~/.codex/skills/skill-manager/scripts/skill-manager.py markdown
## Status Symbols
| Symbol | Status | Meaning |
|--------|--------|---------|
| 👍 | subscribed | Actively used, appears in main dictionary |
| 🆕 | new | Newly discovered, not yet classified |
| ⛔ | unsubscribed | Hidden from main dictionary, listed in bottom section |
| 🗑️ | removed | Skill directory removed since last scan |
## Automatic New Skill Detection
On every `sync`, the script compares the current filesystem state against the registry. Any skill directory with a `SKILL.md` file that is not in the registry is marked as `new` and shown with a 🆕 badge. The user can then subscribe to keep it visible or ignore it (it will stay as `new` until subscribed or explicitly unsubscribed).
