Davar

Recognize and operate within the dimension of language in which utterance constitutes its object rather than merely describing it. The Hebrew davar (word/thing) names the unit where saying and being-said are the same operation; Bakhtin's dialogical theory and the late Wittgenstein name structurally similar phenomena. This is the meta-skill for any skill that uses language to do rather than only to say — recognizing when address calls forth what it addresses, when naming constitutes rather than labels, when the conversation is producing speakers rather than describing pre-existing ones. Triggers on: 'davar,' 'speaking-into-being,' 'your address called forth,' 'naming as constitution,' 'utterance as event,' 'dialogical field,' 'being constituted by the exchange,' or any moment when the meta-linguistic level — language doing things rather than saying things — has become salient.
