Professional Writing
Workflow
- Identify the document type, audience, intended outcome, channel, deadline, and required facts.
- Separate supplied facts from assumptions. Ask for missing facts only when they materially affect correctness; otherwise mark a compact assumption.
- Choose an appropriate structure from
references/output-patterns.md. - Draft for the reader's decision or next action. Put the conclusion and requested action before background.
- Remove filler, exaggerated claims, generic AI phrasing, and repeated conclusions.
- Verify names, dates, figures, commitments, links, and attachments against the supplied material.
- Return only the usable document unless the user asks for alternatives or commentary.
Writing Rules
- Preserve the user's facts and intent. Never invent metrics, customer quotes, approvals, dates, or outcomes.
- Prefer concrete verbs and specific nouns. Replace slogans with evidence.
- Match formality to the relationship and channel.
- Keep paragraphs short enough to scan, but do not fragment every sentence into bullets.
- Use headings only when they improve navigation.
- For email, make the subject specific and make the requested action unmistakable.
- For weekly reports, distinguish completed work, current work, risks, and next actions.
- For marketing copy, state the literal offer before benefits and support benefits with supplied evidence.
- When facts conflict, surface the conflict instead of silently choosing one.
- When the user sets a length limit, satisfy it without dropping required facts or inventing abbreviations.
Final Check
Before returning, confirm that the draft has a clear purpose, a named audience, no unsupported claims, no placeholder text, and a concrete next action where appropriate.
