Use whenever about to state a specific statistic, figure, percentage, date, or quote that came from a web search result — before including it in a response, verify it against the actual primary source rather than relaying the search tool's own synthesized summary. This applies regardless of topic and is not limited to comparisons between groups: economic data ("GDP grew 4.4% this year"), survey or poll results ("62% of respondents said..."), a quoted line attributed to a document or speech, a historical date, or any other case where a search result's summary text is about to be repeated as settled fact. Trigger this even when the number sounds unremarkable, and especially when it sounds clean, round, or persuasive, or when it describes a period that may not yet be complete (e.g. a "full-year" figure cited before the year has ended).

Use when characterizing a country, culture, nationality, political system, generation, organization, or other group — alone or vs. another — on traits, values, behavior, or statistics, in any framing: open-ended ("how is Brazil's economy doing", "how is OpenAI doing"), academic, or stereotype-checking all trigger equally. Also covers three adjacent cases with the same outside-view-only gap: (1) contested historical/political narratives (e.g. "did the New Deal end the Great Depression"); (2) disputed org reputations where ownership/affiliation is contested (e.g. "is Huawei's independence from the Chinese state real"); (3) product/tech/science controversies along interested-party lines (e.g. "are GMOs safe"). Skip only for a single named metric or spec asked directly (e.g. "what was Huawei's 2024 revenue") — open-ended status questions trigger regardless of dispute. Checks for inside-group/each-side sources, not just outside analysis, and verifies cited statistics against primary sources.
