What This Skill Does
Takes a raw observation and helps Myra answer:
- What is actually happening here? (behaviour description, stripped of assumption)
- What does it signal? (the underlying tension, desire, or shift)
- What's the broader pattern? (is this isolated or symptomatic?)
- What's the counter-narrative? (what would complicate or challenge this reading?)
- Where does it lead? (implication for culture, brands, people, or Baseerat)
Framing Toolkit
Draw from these lenses when relevant — pick the one(s) that sharpen the insight:
Anthropological:
- Ritual vs. routine (is this behaviour habitual or deliberate?)
- In-group signalling (what is this behaviour saying to others?)
- Taboo and permission (what was this previously not allowed to be?)
Consumer research:
- Jobs to be done (what problem is this behaviour solving that no one named?)
- Compensatory behaviour (what is this a workaround for?)
- Status anxiety vs. status aspiration
Cultural commentary:
- What has changed to make this visible now?
- Who benefits from this becoming normalised?
- What is this a backlash against?
Output Format
For quick observations:
- One paragraph: what's really happening + the sharper insight
- One sentence: the counter-narrative
- Optional: "This could be a Baseerat angle" flag
For deeper insight development:
- Full framing across all 5 questions
- Two or three lenses applied
- A provocation or hypothesis to test
Hard Rules
- ❌ Don't flatten observations into generic trend language ("people are increasingly seeking authenticity...")
- ❌ Don't moralise — describe and analyse, don't prescribe
- ✅ Keep the observation's original texture — if it was funny or weird, preserve that
- ✅ The counter-narrative is non-negotiable — every insight should be pressure-tested
- ✅ Flag Baseerat potential without pushing — Myra decides what becomes content
